§ Mr. Wareingasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, how many representations he has now received concerning his proposal to introduce a severe disablement allowance; and what proportions were favourable and unfavourable to the proposals respectively.
§ Mr. NewtonI refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Stretford (Mr. Lloyd) on 28 February at columns155–56. Since then we have received a further 10 representations, reflecting similar views to those received earlier. This brings the total to 26. One of these was a letter from the Social Security Advisory Committee, of which I have placed a copy in the Library, expressing a broadly favourable view in principle of what is proposed.
