asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total number of family aides expressed in whole-time equivalents, employed by (a) metropolitan district councils, (b) non-metropolitan county councils and (c) London boroughs.

Information on the number of family aides as such is not available centrally. However, information about home helps, which includes family aides, is given in the following table.
