Mr. Cohen

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the maximum number and average number of strip searches for a women prisoner in 1983 in Armagh prison.

The information requested could be provided only at disproportionate cost. During 1983 a total of 1,218 strip searches were carried out. The frequency of searches during 1983 was as follows:
