HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 cc95-6W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the names of those who have been appointed to undertake the review of purchasing policy for weapons systems; and whether those individuals will be required to sign the Official Secrets Act, to declare their business interests in defence contracts and be vetted for potential conflicts of interest.

Mr. Heseltine

The membership of the review team has not yet been settled, but if members have not already signed the Official Secrets Act by nature of their companies' involvement in classified defence projects, they will be invited to do so. The review's work will be arranged so that no conflict of interests arise.

Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Defence who is to chair the review body to examine the procurement policy for defence weapons.

Mr. Heseltine

My personal adviser, Mr. Peter Levene, will head the review team.
