HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c75W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many housing associations took place in do-it-yourself shared ownership schemes during 1983–84; and how many properties were purchased under the terms of the scheme.

Sir George Young

Fifty-one housing associations have taken part in the do-it-yourself shared ownership scheme since its launch in January 1983. At the end of February 1984 the Housing Corporation had approved the sale of 2,859 dwellings in England under the scheme.

Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the financial allocation for do-it-yourself shared ownership schemes during 1983–84; and how much has been taken up at the most recent convenient date.

Sir George Young

£44 million was allocated for do-it-yourself shared ownership in the Housing Corporation's approved development programme for 1983–84. At the end of February 1984, .40.6 million of this allocation had been spent.
