HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c21W
Mr. Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many police forces have requested and been granted additional police officers seconded from other police forces; and whether he will list the forces and the number of officers seconded.

Mr. Hurd

In England and Wales, the chief constables of Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Cumbria and north Wales requested and received assistance from other forces in the context of the miners' dispute on various days between 14 and 25 March inclusive. All police forces in England and Wales except Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire provided officers at some stage during the period. The number of officers provided under these arrangements varied daily, up to a naximum of some 7,000.
