HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c71W
Mr. Ernie Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what he anticipates will happen to the funds currently allocated to the Greater London council under existing inner city partnership arrangements, if the Greater London council is abolished.

Sir George Young

Urban programme funds are allocated to partnerships according to the needs of individual partnership areas, as reflected in the inner area programmes agreed by the partnership committees. Abolition of the GLC will have no direct effect on the total funding allocated to partnerships.

Mr. Ernie Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has made any plans to ensure the survival of voluntary and community organisations currently funded by the Greater London council within Hackney under partnership arrangements if the Greater London council is abolished.

Sir George Young

My right hon. Friend is aware of the concern in the voluntary sector about the possible effects of abolition on the finances of voluntary bodies in Hackney and elsewhere. We are consulting them and the local authority associations before deciding whether any special action may be necessary.
