§ Mr. Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what recommendations have been made to health boards regarding leave of absence during the campaign to staff who will contest the Euro-elections on 14 June where such absence is not covered by section XI of the Whitley Council Regulations (Leave for Parliamentary Candidature).
§ Mr. John MacKayNone. Section XI of the General Whitley Council Handbook provides for up to four weeks special leave without pay for candidates at a parliamentary election. Should section XI not be applicable in a particular case, employing authorities may at their discretion grant special leave without pay under the general provisions of section III of the handbook.
