HC Deb 23 March 1984 vol 56 c596W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people in Belfast have exhausted their right to unemployment benefit; and what percentage of the unemployed population in Belfast they represent.

Mr. Butler

At 12 May 1983, the latest date for which information is available, in the six social security offices which serve the Belfast area, 12,590 people had exhausted their entitlement to unemployment benefit. This represents 39 per cent. of the unemployed population in those social security office areas.
