Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list, from information which is available to him, European Economic Community and Commonwealth countries which have adopted International Labour Organisation conventions Nos. 26 and 99.

[pursuant to his reply, 22 March 1984, c. 558]: As at 31 December 1982 the following European Economic Community and Commonwealth countries had ratified International Labour Organisation conventions Nos. 26 and 99.

CONVENTION No. 26

EEC Countries

  • Belgium
  • France
  • Federal Republic of Germany Ireland
  • Italy
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • United Kingdom

Denmark and Greece had not ratified Convention No. 26.

Commonwealth Countries

  • Australia
  • Bahamas
  • Barbados
  • Canada
  • Fiji
  • Ghana
  • Grenada
  • Guyana
  • India
  • Jamaica
  • Kenya
  • Lesotho
  • Malawi
  • Malta
  • Mauritius
  • New Zealand
  • Nigeria
  • Papua New Guinea
  • Saint Lucia
  • Seychelles
  • Sierra Leone
  • Sri Lanka
  • Swaziland
  • Tanzania
  • Uganda
  • United Kingdom
  • Zambia

Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Cyprus, Dominica, Malaysia, Singapore, Trinidad and Tobago, and Zimbabwe had not ratified Convention No. 26.

In all 95 Member States had ratified Convention No. 26 and 57 had not.

In all, 48 ILO Member States had ratified Convention No. 99 and 104 had not.
