asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what indices of deprivation are taken into account in the allocation of the inner city partnership funds to Lambeth.

The key indicators of deprivation which are taken into account with other factors in determining allocations to the inner city partnerships are as follows:

  1. i. Unemployed people
  2. ii. Overcrowded households
  3. iii. Single parent households
  4. iv. Households lacking exclusive use of basic amenities
  5. v. Pensioners living alone
  6. vi. Population change
  7. vii. Standardised mortality rate, ie the ratio of the locally adjusted death rate to the national rate
  8. viii. Low-skilled economically active persons
  9. ix. Residents living in households of which the head of the household was born in the New Commonwealth or Pakistan.
