§ Mr. Gordon Brownasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish the results of his study of the naval refitting practices of other countries and particularly of the United States Navy.
§ Mr. LeeIn the course of his study of the royal dockyards the personal adviser of my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State has examined refitting arrangements adopted by certain foreign navies. The results of these inquiries will be reflected, as appropriate, during consideration of Mr. Levene's preliminary report. Any proposals affecting the dockyards which follow from Mr. Levene's work will be the subject of consultation through normal departmental procedures. Any proposals to publish the results of Mr. Levene's advice will be considered on their merits.
