HC Deb 22 March 1984 vol 56 c517W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Prime Minister whether she raised the question of the construction of an irrigation scheme in the desert oasis of Al-Ain during her visit to the middle east in April 1981.

The Prime Minister

No.

Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Prime Minister for what purposes Mr. Ivor Lucas, an official of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, was present in the palace at Salalah in Oman during the time of her visit in April 1981; and whether he raised the contract to build the university.

The Prime Minister

Mr. Lucas was present in his capacity as Her Majesty's ambassador to Oman. His conversations with me or with the Government of Oman are confidential.

Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Prime Minister for what purpose a member of the board of Chipman Ltd., and a representative of Blakedown Chipman, accompanied her to the palace at Salalah, Oman, in April 1981; and who were these persons.

The Prime Minister

I find it extraordinary that the hon. Gentleman should require a justification for matrimonial support.
