HC Deb 22 March 1984 vol 56 c562W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what arrangements exist, for liaison between his Department, the Metropolitan police, the British Transport police and any other police force in London about the treatment of people sleeping rough.

Mr. Hurd

Policy on the problems associated with homelessness is primarily a matter for my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for the Environment and Social Services. I understand, however that the police have good liaison arrangements with both Government and voluntary schemes to help the single homeless, and that in suitable cases homeless people are referred by the police to those schemes.
