§ Sir David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received about the proposals in the Government's White Paper "Training for Jobs", Cmnd. 9135, to transfer non-advanced further education resources from local education authorities to the Manpower Services Commission.
§ Sir Keith JosephI refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave on 6 March, at columns 726–27, to the question from the hon. Member for Denton and Reddish (Mr. Bennett). On 21 February I met representatives of the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education, who expressed concern about the lack of prior consultation and the timing of the initiative. I have also received written representations from local education authorities which are critical of the Government's decision. In addition I have received letters from the440W National Association of Local Government Officers, individual colleges of further education and members of the public.
