HC Deb 20 March 1984 vol 56 c425W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is (a) the average delay between the date of a medical appeal tribunal hearing and notification of the decision to the claimant, (b) the period of such delay for the London, north region, and (c) the cause of continuing delay in the case with reference MOB A 958128 heard by the medical appeal tribunal on 14 November 1983.

Mr. Newton

It is estimated that the average time between a medical appeal tribunal hearing of a mobility allowance claim and the notification of the decision to the claimant by the mobility allowance unit is currently about three weeks for all regions including London, north. The case to which the right hon. Member refers was unusually complex and, following the medical appeal tribunal' hearing on 14 November 1983, the members of the tribunal took more time than normal to provide a record of their decision. The notification of the decision was sent to the claimant on 9 March.
