§ Mr. Barronasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish the net capital expenditure figure for local authority housing in England used as the cash limit for public expenditure purposes for the years 1979–80 and 1984–85.
§ Sir George YoungPrior to 1981–82, cash limits were gross (that is including capital receipts). The cash limit for 1979–80 was £2.584 million. Net cash limits were introduced from 1981–82 onwards and housing became part of the overall local authority capital cash limit. For 1984–85 that overall cash limit is £2,453 million, including net provision for housing of £1,028 million. Gross provision, including capital receipts, for local authority housing investment next year is £2,493 million.
