Mr. Norman Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many new jobs have been created and how many lost in each of the new towns in the most recent 12-month period for which statistics are available.

This information is not available on a comprehensive or wholly consistent basis. Each development corporation compiles estimates of the numbers of jobs created and jobs lost in industry in its new town: the estimates for the year ended December 1983 are set out in the following table:
