27. Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will consider an increase in the allocation of community programme places to the county of Cumbria.

Mr. Peter Morrison

We are currently considering the regional allocation of places on the community programme from April 1984 to October 1986 and I will write to the hon. Member about the implications for Cumbria as soon as an announcement has been made.

34. Mr. Haselhurst

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he plans any adaptations to the community programme to meet the particular needs of rural areas.

Mr. Peter Morrison

In general, the community programme has operated as successfully in rural areas as in other areas. If my hon. Friend has any particular problems in mind, I would welcome details.
