HC Deb 19 March 1984 vol 56 c314W
Mr. Pawsey

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what communications his Department has received from the National Coal Board about the possible extraction of coal from south Warwickshire, with particular reference to the likely size and scope of any operations and the amount of manpower likely to be involved.

Mr. Giles Shaw

I understand that the National Coal Board has carried out surveys of the coal reserves in south Warwickshire, and has held discussions with the local authorities. But I have had no indications from the board as to whether or when it might wish to develop the south Warwickshire coal reserves. This is a matter for the board to consider.
