§ Mr. John Huntasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will indicate the extent to which records are kept in his Department of the number of planning appeals lodged and the number of such appeals which are subsequently upheld, indicating in particular the categories by which such appeals are recorded.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneThe Department maintains statistics on the numbers of planning appeals lodged each year and the overall success rate. The Chief Planning Inspector's report is published each year and includes statistics on appeal volumes and decision time. No details are kept on the success rate of appeals for different categories of development.
It is proposed that the 1983 report will include some information on appeals received in various categories but this will not include success rates.
