asked the Attorney-General what progress has been made by Her Majesty's Government in considering whether to accede to the 1980 Hague convention on international access to justice.

The Attorney-General

The 1980 Hague convention on international access to justice largely duplicates, in respect of its provisions on legal aid and security for costs, the provisions of existing bilateral conventions. The Government have not yet decided whether to sign and ratify the convention but will keep the matter under review.
