HC Deb 19 March 1984 vol 56 c339W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Prime Minister what recent representations she has received from the Cabinet Office branch of the First Division Association concerning the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards union membership by staff at Government communications headquarters; what response she is making; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

I received a letter from the Cabinet Office branch of the First Division Association dated 27 February which raised several matters relating to the Government's measures at GCHQ. This letter has been acknowledged. On that day, my noble Friend the Minister of State, Privy Council Office, who deals on my behalf with day to day matters relating to the Civil Service and has responsibility for the Cabinet Office (management and personnel office), replied to a similar letter which he had received from the Cabinet Office branch. I have nothing to add to that reply, which dealt with the points made in the letter sent to me.
