Mr. John David Taylorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of the economic subvention of the United Kingdom less England went to (a) Northern Ireland, (b) Scotland and (c) Wales in 1982–83.
§ Mr. Peter ReesThe cost of economic subvention in Northern Ireland in 1982–83 was given by my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Northern Ireland Office, on 6 March in answer to a question from the hon. Member for Liverpool, Mossley Hill (Mr. Alton) in column571. These figures are available only because of the existence of a separate Northern Ireland Consolidated Fund. Comparable figures for Scotland and Wales cannot therefore be provided.
