§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any plans for changing existing training arrangements in respect of (a) state registered nurses and (b) state enrolled nurses.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeWe have at present no such plans. The statutory bodies responsible for nurse education and training, which were established under the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act 1979, are currently examining the present arrangements for nurse education and training and will be considering various options for the future. There will be full consultation with the professions and with the health service in these deliberations.
