Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has had from the Royal National Institute for the Deaf about the length of time people applying for hearing aids have to wait to see a consultant; how the north-west compares with other regions in this regard; what action he is taking; and if he will make a statement.

I understand that the Royal National Institute for the Deaf is sending the right hon. Member a copy of its survey of NHS hearing aid services, together with my written response. Regional statistics, including the north-western region, are given in table 3 of the report.
