§ Mr. Bottomleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the meeting of the European Community Finance Council in Brussels on 12 March.
§ Mr. LawsonI was represented by officials at this Council.
The Council reviewed the economic situation in the Community and the first five years of the operation of the European monetary system. There was also discussion of insurance services and of proposals for fiscal measures intended to encourage company co-operation across national boundaries. Progress on these two subjects will be reviewed at the June Council.
