§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list in the Official Report those organisations which he consulted over the licensing of gas installers when responsibility for gas safety rested with his Department; and whether he is satisfied that consultations were held with representatives of the majority of the gas installing industry.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithFormal consultation on this issue had not begun before responsibility for it was transferred to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment. He is considering options for regulation of installers of gas appliances. All interested parties, including associations representing gas installers, will be consulted before any new scheme is introduced.
