HC Deb 14 March 1984 vol 56 c177W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will consider introducing legislation to permit the wider use of blood samples in drink-drive cases.

Mrs. Chalker

The law already provides for a person's right to supply a specimen of blood or urine when his breath specimen contains not more than 50 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. This is equivalent to a level of about 115 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood or nearly one and a half times the legal limit.
