HC Deb 14 March 1984 vol 56 cc153-4W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether there is a code of practice dealing with the personal data held on the computer system of the Inland Revenue dealing with pay-as-you-earn; whether he will place a copy in the Library; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moore

Access to personal data held on these computer systems is restricted to Inland Revenue staff concerned with the operation of PAYE. The Taxes Management Act 1970 requires all Inland Revenue staff to make a declaration of secrecy when they are appointed. I have placed a copy of the form of declaration in the Library.
