asked the Secretary of State for Defence why no decision has yet been announced about which of three shipyards should receive the two orders for type 22 frigates promised before Christmas 1983.

35. Mr. Chope

asked the Secretary of State for Defence on what date he now intends to announce the result of the tendering process for new type 22 frigates.

Mr. Lee

Revised tenders were submitted by the shipbuilders in January and are being considered.
