HC Deb 13 March 1984 vol 56 c106W
Mr. Peter Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will take steps to require all blood pressure measuring equipment to be tested by trading standards officers when new and at regular intervals thereafter.

Mr. Fletcher

New equipment is tested before use for compliance with British Standards 2743: 1956 or 2744: 1956 according to type. In 1977 the Department of Health and Social Security recommended, in "Health Equipment Information No. 69" that such equipment used in the Health Service should be tested regularly.
