§ Mr. John PattenThe percentage of people of retirement age in each local authority district of Great Britain was recently published in table 3 of "Census 1981, Key Statistics for Local Authorities" (HMSO), a copy of which is in the Library. The 10 local authority areas with the largest percentages in the 1981 census were as follows:
