HC Deb 13 March 1984 vol 56 cc88-9W
Q36. Mr. John Browne

asked the Prime Minister if Her Majesty's Government will seek to organise a service of thanksgiving, to be attended by North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member leaders, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

The Prime Minister

The 35th anniversary of NATO will be marked by a meeting of alliance Foreign Ministers in Washington in May. If there were to be a service of thanksgiving for attendance by NATO leaders, it would therefore fall to our American hosts to organise. We are considering arrangements for marking the 35th anniversary in the United Kingdom.
