HC Deb 13 March 1984 vol 56 c117W
Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what are the reasons for the delay in sending a reply to the hon. Member for Rutland and Melton's letter to the Under-Secretary of State, Lord Glenarthur, of 7 November, which was acknowledged in Lord Glenarthur's name on 25 November, but which the hon. Member was told on the telephone on 1 March has been passed to the Under-Secretary of State, the hon. Member for Braintree (Mr. Newton) and which remains unanswered;

(2) when the hon. Member for Rutland and Melton may expect a considered reply to his letter to the Under-Secretary of State, Lord Glenarthur, dated 7 November 1983, regarding social security provision in Rutland, which received an interim acknowledgement from his Nottingham regional office on 25 November, but which remains unanswered despite a telephone call by the hon. Member to the Private Office of the Under-Secretary of State recently.

Mr. Newton

I wrote to my hon. Friend on 12 March.
