HC Deb 12 March 1984 vol 56 c70W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what consideration he has given to representations regarding improved psychiatric service in West Glamorgan and in particular the appointment of a consultant psychiatrist based in West Glamorgan to serve the eastern part of the county.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The Welsh Office has received proposals for the transfer of responsibility for psychiatric services in the Neath and Port Talbot districts from the Mid Glamorgan to the West Glamorgan health authority which have been formulated jointly by the two authorities. These would involve the transfer of two existing consultant psychiatrist posts together with the development of facilities in the eastern part of west Glamorgan. The scope for central support for the authorities' proposals is being actively considered.
