HC Deb 12 March 1984 vol 56 c22W
42. Mr. Randall

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the estimated cost of comprehensive loft insulation in public sector housing.

Sir George Young

It is estimated that it would cost about £170 million to install 100mm loft insulation in all local authority dwellings in Great Britain which at present have no more than 25mm thick of insulation, assuming a cost of £100 per dwelling. (Dwellings with greater thicknesses of existing loft insulation are likely already to be saving a considerable amount of heat). No figures are available for the public sector as a whole.
