HL Deb 12 March 1984 vol 449 c626WA
Lord Whaddon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the accident rates for United Kingdom registered light aircraft, excluding micro-lights, in each of the years 1981–83,

  1. (i) for each aircraft;
  2. (ii) in proportion to the hours flown.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces (Lord Trefgarne)

It is regretted that a fully detailed Answer could be provided only at disproportionate cost. Table A attached summarises reportable accidents to all light aircraft (under 2300 kgs) on the British Register excluding microlights and gliders. Table B also attached provides information on those types of aircraft which were involved in five or more reportable accidents in any one of the three years 1981–83. Accurate records of hours flown for aircraft in this category are not available.
