HC Deb 12 March 1984 vol 56 cc6-7W
Mr. Madden

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department in what manner the police report, under the Aliens Act 1905, information about those believed to be aliens to the collator; and what guidance is given to the police to display notices in police stations about these requirements.

Mr. Waddington

The Aliens Act 1905 was repealed in 1920 and the subsequent immigration provisions relating to foreign nationals has been replaced by the Immigration Act 1971. The procedures adopted by police forces to enforce current immigration provisions are a matter for each individual chief officer. If the hon. Member has a particular point in mind perhaps he would care to write to me.
