The tables published in Cmnd. 6354 (and subsequently updated for the Lindop committee) were prepared as part of a review by the Government of the day of the case for regulating the use of computers to handle personal information. The Data Protection Bill now before Parliament will ensure that information about Government and other data users is publicly available from the register established under clause 4 of the Bill.
