HC Deb 09 March 1984 vol 55 c731W
Mr. Batiste

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will seek to amend the law so that public advisory committees and consumer monitoring bodies, such as Post Office advisory committees, are required to provide information on their meetings to the public and press; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Fletcher

Posts and telecommunications advisory committees are set up by local initiative on a non-statutory basis. As regards the consumer bodies which my right hon. Friend appoints, I see no need to change the existing arrangements under which these bodies themselves decide how their activities can best be publicised.
