HC Deb 09 March 1984 vol 55 cc724-5W
Mr. John David Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether the proposed appeals system against the recommended new boundaries for less-favoured areas will be uniform and identical in all parts of the United Kingdom.

Mrs. Fenner

The boundary of the United Kingdom's less-favoured areas has been decided by the European Council of Ministers and is not a recommendation. Should any further adjustment appear necessary, it will have to be agreed in Brussels. There is no legal right of appeal against exclusion from the less-favoured areas, but we intend to provide for a system of representations, the exact form of which is still being considered. We will be making a statement on the matter in due course.
