Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many leaflets issued by the Department of Health and Social Services are currently in print; and what is the total cost of publishing these leaflets and the total cost of advertising housing and other welfare benefits for 1980 and 1983.

The DHSS currently publishes about 130 information leaflets covering national insurance benefits and contributions, other social security schemes, the NHS and social services.

The cost of publishing these leaflets, and of advertising benefits, was as folows:
