HC Deb 08 March 1984 vol 55 c681W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received against the charging of £10 to women between the ages of 35 and 50 years for their using the facilities of the breast cancer screening machine at the Royal Liverpool hospital; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We have not received any representions on this matter. Liverpool health authority makes no charge to NHS patients using breast cancer screening facilities at the Royal Liverpool hospital. I understand that a department of the University of Liverpool has similar facilities and equipment, and makes charges for their use.
