asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the coal production in 1983 in the United Kingdom, West Germany, France and Belgium.

On the basis of European Commission estimates, coal production in these four countries in 1983 was as follows:

United Kingdom 116
Federal Republic of Germany 89
France 17
Belgium 6

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the total European Economic Community coal production in 1979 and 1983.

European Commission estimates of total coal production from Community countries were 239 million tonnes in 1979 and 229 million tonnes in 1983.
