HC Deb 07 March 1984 vol 55 cc604-5W
43. Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the publicity budget of the Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive; and how much of this is met from public funds.

Mr. Waldegrave

This is an operational matter for British Nuclear Fuels plc, the electricity generating boards and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, which are the bodies sponsoring NIREX. As a Vote-funded body the authority's contribution to the cost of publicity by NIREX counts as public funds, and amounts to £120,000 in 1983–84.
