HC Deb 07 March 1984 vol 55 c585W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the annual loss to the revenue of giving income tax relief for national insurance contributions.

Mr. Moore

[pursuant to his reply, 27 February 1984, c. 49]: At 1983–84 levels of income and rates of contribution, the cost of exempting national insurance contributions paid by employees and the self-employed would be about £3 billion in a full year.
