HC Deb 07 March 1984 vol 55 c579W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received concerning projects to enhance lobster fishing in Cardigan bay, and in particular off the Lleyn peninsula; and what assistance the Welsh Office is giving directly and in conjunction with the European Economic Community authorities towards this project.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The Lancashire and Western Sea Fisheries Joint Committee has sought financial support from my Department for the lobster stock enhancement programme which it proposes to implement in Cardigan bay and off the Lleyn peninsula. The hon. Member for Ceredigion and Pembroke, North (Mr. Howells) also has written to me, supporting the committee's request. I have no funds to aid the programme directly, but my officials are inquiring into other possible sources, including the European Community. I shall write to the hon. Gentleman when these inquiries have been completed.
