Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing for 1972 and for the latest available 12 month period (a) the amount of duties, levies and other protective charges levied on United Kingdom imports of foodstuffs admitted without benefit of any form of preference and (b) the amount so collected as a percentage of the value of the goods so admitted.

Figures for 1972 are not available. However, the following table gives for the financial year 1972–73 and for 1983 the duties and levies on imports of food and live animals chiefly for food (Standard International Trade Classification (Rev 2) Section 0) from countries for which no preferential duty rates apply.
