Mr. A. Cecil Walkerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will examine Housing Executive density of put-back, particularly in redevelopment areas of high population factors and no tradition of, or desire for, open planned estates.
§ Mr. Chris PattenThe Northern Ireland Housing Executive's objective in redevelopment areas is to provide modern housing with amenities which will cater for future generations; it is seldom possible to put back on a site as many houses as were removed from it, but the executive makes every effort to maximise the number it can return to each area. The executive also endeavours to meet the wishes of everyone seeking to be rehoused in the same general area after redevelopment.
Extensive consultation is undertaken with the residents of proposed redevelopment areas and their representatives in an attempt to ensure that final proposals are prepared in broad agreement with those concerned. All the executive's proposals for redevelopment are subject to approval by the Department of tte Environment for Northern Ireland after careful consideration of any objections from individuals or organisations affected.
§ Mr. Clifford Forsytheasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what the total expenditure of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive on planned and response maintenance was in 1982–83 and the period March 1983 to December 1983 in the Antrim and Mossley district office areas.
